Bio
INDIA MARTIN is an award-winning visual artist, filmmaker, and scholar working to confront and reimagine Black queer life and visibility. Through her art and cultural projects, she creates transformative experiences that challenge dominant narratives, crafting serene landscapes and capturing tender, defiant moments of connection.
Her current work focuses on memory work, preservation, and the creation of still and moving images that center Black queer families and chosen families reveling in tranquility, joy, and rest. Rooted in liberation, India’s purpose is to dismantle erasure and co-create a future where images of queer people of color are unapologetically visible and celebrated as vital to our collective imagination.
