Bio
India is a visual artist and filmmaker whose work reimagines how we see and feel. Her practice challenges dominant narratives, crafting serene visual landscapes and capturing tender moments of connection. Rooted in liberation, her work confronts erasure and centers Black queer life as essential to our collective imagination.
She was a documentary fellow with Sisters in Cinema from 2023 to 2025. Her docuseries, Out of Focus, premiered in Chicago in 2024 and has since traveled across the United States and internationally, including the Resistance and Joy Screening Tour supported by Color Congress. She has also participated in fellowships and residencies with the University of Chicago and the Chicago Artists Coalition, among others.
